In January 2002 the Korea Ministry of Environment granted regulatory
recognition of Rupprecht & Patashnick's TEOM
Series 1400a Ambient Particulate Monitor. The government approval
permits the use of the continuous particulate matter monitor for
compliance monitoring of ambient air. The criteria pollutant for
particulate matter for which the instrument will be used in Korea
is PM-10, defined as the mass concentration of particles smaller
than 10 microns in diameter.

With this approval, Korea joins a number of organizations in the
Pacific area that have recently extended recognition of the continuous
TEOM mass monitoring method from R&P. These include the Taiwan
EPA, Japan EPA and Standards Australia.
