Rupprecht & Patashnick Co., Inc. (R&P) has been chosen by
R&D Magazine ro receive one of the Annual R&D 100 Awards
for 2003. The prestigious award from R&D Magazine is the pinnacle
of successful recognition for excellence known throughout industry,
government and academia. The formal awards and presentations were
made at the annual award ceremony in Chicago, Illinois, on Thursday,
16 October 2003.
R&P, in a joint entry with Los Alamos National Laboratory and
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, was selected for the co-development
and delivery of the Biological Aerosol Sentry and Information (BASIS)
system. The BASIS unit is a field deployable integrated system for
countering aerosol bioterrorism. The BASIS systems were deployed
as part of the security arrangements for the 2002 Salt Lake City
Olympics and are currently deployed in major metropolitan areas.
The world's most technologically significant commercial products
for 2003 are recognized by the 41st R&D 100 Awards, which recognize
the efforts of the best scientists and engineers in industry, government,
and academic research labs. One hundred such awards are granted
each year by R&D Magazine.
