In late 2000, R&P's TEOM
Series 1400a Ambient Particulate Monitor received the Taiwan
EPA designation as an "NIEA Standard Method" (NIEA A207.10C).
This official governmental designation means that R&P's continuous
monitor can be operated for compliance monitoring of suspended particulate
matter, such as particles smaller than 10 microns in diameter (PM-10).

With this new approval, Taiwan joins the US, Russia and Germany
as countries that have officially designated the TEOM Ambient Particulate
Monitor. In many other countries, the unit is either an informal
standard or the de facto standard for determining mass concentration
of particulate matter in ambient air.
