Rupprecht & Patashnick has worked together with the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (USEPA) and New York State Department of Environmental
Conservation (NYDEC) to initiate air monitoring in the vicinity
of the World Trade Center disaster zone.
The concentration of ambient particulate matter is being monitored
continuously using TEOM
monitors from R&P at sites in downtown New York in a project
being funded by the USEPA and operated by NYDEC. The company has
provided logistical support in setting up the new air monitoring
sites.
The monitors will provide the agencies with information concerning
the exposure of various sites in New York City to airborne particles
emanating from the World Trade Center site. The new monitoring sites
augment other New York State-operated air monitoring stations that
already exist in the New York City area.
The photos on this page show some scenes in the vicinity of the
World Trade Center where air quality is being monitored.
