Harvey co-founded R&P as a partnership in the late 1970's
and as a corporation in 1981. His interest in astronomy led
him to develop an inertial microweighing technique for cosmic
dust studies during his undergraduate and graduate work at the
University at Albany and at a local observatory. With support
from NASA, he was a principal investigator in numerous space-related
research and instrument development programs. From a specialization
in micro-particle research, his work branched into the environmental
field as well. The range of topics on which he has published
includes solar system particles, the behavior of ice in comets,
microbalance technology, and the measurement of ambient air
particulate matter. He has co-invented and co-developed many
of the technologies currently employed by the company.
Aside from many adminstrative duties
as president of the company, he maintains an active role in
the development of new technologies and products.
Since his previously active role in professional
astronomy has been superceded by company-related activities,
he continues a very active private pursuit of astronomy, including
an advanced home-based observatory. He takes out his aggressions
on the tennis court.
