Snapshot

Description

The Partisol Audit Sampler fulfills the USEPA regulations as an audit sampler used in the national PM-2.5 sampling network. It can easily be disassembled and rebuilt for flexible use at inaccessible locations.

Applications

The device is designed to confirm the results from other, larger systems such as the single-filter Partisol-FRM and Partisol-Plus Air Samplers. It can also be used as a compact stand-alone sampler of PM-10, PM-2.5, PM-1 or TSP.

Technology

The Partisol Audit Sampler incorporates the hardware and user interface features of the other members of the Partisol Family of Air Samplers. These include modular design, ActiVol flow system, and the use of proven, field-robust components.

Regulatory Status

The Partisol Model 2000 Audit Sampler has the USEPA reference designation for PM-2.5 sampling, RFPS-0499-129.

Details

The Partisol Audit Sampler provides a small, flexibe platform for collecting particulate matter on a filter for gravimetric and/or elemental analysis in a laboratory. The device operates at the same flow rate of 16.7 l/min (1 m3/h) as the other membes of R&P's Partisol Family of Air Samplers. Flow control is performed using the Activol constant volumetric flow control system, which adjusts the set point of the system mass flow controller for changes in the ambient temperature and pressure.

The sampler breaks down into a small number of components packaged in durable bags for transport. The exchange of the USEPA PM-2.5 WINS Impactor is made simple through the use of modular components.

The user interface and data handling features of the audit sampler are identical to those of R&P's single-filter Partisol-FRM Air Sampler, reducing the requirements for operator training.

Filter Analyses and Support Services

For commercial and network users of the Partisol Air Sampler, IML Air Science provides quality-assured filter weighing and analysis services using NIST-traceable analytical equipment. In addition to offering pre- and post-collection gravimetric analyses of Partisol filters, IML can also identify chemical constituents including carbon, metals, sulfates, and nitrates.
